Willie Mayhall
The Rochester community is grieving the tragic loss of Willie Mayhall, a beloved resident whose life was cut short in a senseless act of violence. On Tuesday evening, shortly after 6:45 p.m., Rochester Police responded to a report of a shooting at a gas station located at the intersection of St. Paul Street and Norton Street.
Upon arrival, officers found Willie in the driver’s seat of his parked vehicle at the gas pumps, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Despite immediate efforts by first responders to save him, Willie sadly passed away at the scene. His sudden and tragic death has left family, friends, and the broader Rochester community heartbroken as they struggle to comprehend the loss of someone so deeply valued.
Investigators have since determined that Willie was alone in his vehicle when an unidentified assailant approached on foot and fired multiple rounds into the car before fleeing. The motive remains unknown, and no arrests have been made. The suspect’s identity has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
The Rochester Police Department is urging anyone with information—whether from personal observation, home surveillance footage, or community knowledge—to come forward. Even the smallest detail may help lead investigators toward answers and justice for Willie and his loved ones.
Willie Mayhall will be remembered for his warmth, his presence, and the relationships he built throughout the community. His loss is deeply felt, and the path ahead will be difficult for those who knew and loved him. As the investigation continues, the community extends heartfelt condolences to Willie’s family and friends during this unimaginably painful time.
